Just tried to recreate my list of books to read on the "new and improved" New York Public Library website. It's HORRIBLE. There is no clear way to designate the books you'd like to put on your list once you've pulled up a record, and the whole site is terribly slow. Why do institutions take something that's working perfectly well and ruitn it? Consultants gone awry, I'm betting.
www,goodreads.com is a good place to keep a list of to-read as well as what you have read. I read reviews of others and have selected a small number whose tastes are similar and who write fairly good reviews as friends. That means I get an email when they mark a book and can follow the link to see what they said if I am interested. I don't keep my to-reads on line (I am afraid I would crash the server the list is so long) but many people do.
